About me

Hi there,

My name is Jane and I have been playing guitar all of my life. I am quite musical in that I can also play clarinet and piano but guitar is my passion. I am classically trained but also love playing all different types from my Fender precision bass, slapping and popping to the Red Hot Chili Peppers to playing my Ibanez artcore Jazz guitar.

I have been teaching guitar privately for many years. For electric, acoustic, classical, bass and even ukulele (!) I’m your girl. I teach adults and children from age 5 for the ukulele and age 6 for the guitar in my studio in Dumfries.

Private lessons take place in my studio in Dumfries. I am right in the town centre about two minutes walking distance from Dumfries Acadamy.

About my equipment

Recording equipment

I find recording students is a great way to record their progress and also help students appraise their own playing. Using my imac and Focusrite Saffire 6, I have the facility to record guitars, bass and vocals as well as add drum tracks to make the process more interesting. Knowing that their efforts will be recorded often motivates students to practice and the resulting CDs make great gifts!

Here are a few of my guitars that I own and love playing!

Electric guitar - Fender American HSS Strat

Just love it - had to order it specially because of its colour! (Sienna Sunburst)

Bass guitar - Fender Precision

An industry standard that does everything a bass should do and more!

Classical guitar - 1995 Sanchez 1035

A beautifully crafted instrument - my work horse.

Acoustic guitar - Breedlove OM/SM

This is a fantastic guitar! Perfect for picking and strumming alike.

Banjo - Deering Midnight Special

I love my banjo! It is a 5 string model. Deering make great banjos for a decent price.

Mandolin - Kentucky KM-250

A great instrument perfect for celtic and bluegrass tunes.
